Boonieland Kennel is a small breeding kennel located in Northern Wisconsin and is a breeder of AKC weimaraners for over 19 years. Our dogs are bred to be good family pets but the drive and ability to make it in the field and ring.  We are located in Northern Wisconsin on a 40 acre hobby farm where our dogs have plenty of room to work and play.   We have a few litters of puppies a year and they come in both the traditional short coat and the longhair and can be silver/gray, gray and blue.  Our puppies are well socialized and are always raised in our home where they will receive a lot of love and attention. They will have their first vaccinations, be dewormed several times, dew claws removed, tail docked (if short hair) and vet checked before going to their new home.

Boonieland kennel was established more than 19 years ago with my first Weimaraner that I had received as a gift from my sister,  She might of been my first weimaraner but I was no stranger to dogs,  I was an obedience instructor in an all breed kennel club and  bred and shown Labrador Retrievers for years until a move to a different  state forced me to quit.   I was without a dog for a few years when my sister gave me Krystal.  I found out that the Weimaraners were just as intelligent as the Lab, very easy to train, clean house pets, and best of all their ability to achieve many different sports.

Krystal had excellent conformation and not bad of a pedigree and after her health tests were back I decided to breed her.  I started  looking for a male  Weimaraner who would complement her pedigree when I came across a male from Valkyries kennel.  Krystal produced 3 longhair weimaraner puppies her first litter and I was stunned...How could 2 short hair produce 3 longhair puppies. I contacted the breeder and she told me the longhair gene could be back generations and with the right combination they could produce longhair puppies.  Krystal had longhair back 4 generations but my male's mother was a longhair.  I also found out both parents had to carry the longhair gene to get the longhair coat.

This is how Boonieland Kennel got started but we don't just breed the longhair we also produce some very nice short hair puppies.  Our dogs are bred to be calm family pets who have the drive and ability to make it in the field, or ring and are excelling in both obedience and conformation..   We have a few litters a year in both the longhair and short coat.
